About The Event

Sumayya's Soulfood Suppers will be hosted in collaboration with Soul Food Kitchen every month.

We are very honoured to be collaborating with Sumayya Usmani, as she embodies her passion for cooking in such an inspiring way. It's impossible not to be affected by her enthusiasm, and expertise. We simply can't wait for these suppers.

Sumayya's recipes are filled with spice, layers of flavour and inspired by her intuitive style of cooking using her senses and memories to recreate the flavours that she grew up cooking in the kitchen with the women of her family in Pakistan.

Sumayya is the award-winning author of Summers Under the Tamarind Tree and Mountain Berries and Desert Spice. Her next book, a food memoir Andaza is out in April 2023 and is the receiptist of the Scottish Book Trust Next Chapter Award 2021. Sumayya is a regular panelist on BBC Radio 4's The Kitchen Cabinet with Jay Rayner, and was a columnist for the Sunday Herald and co-presenter on BBC Radio Scotland's Kitchen Cafe. Sumayya has worked with and has personal connections with well known food writers including Madhur Jaffrey, Rachel Allen, Vivek Singh, Claudia Roden, Olia Hercules and Tessa Kiros and she has contributed to BBC Good Food, Waitrose Magazine, Delicious, Olive, Guardian and many more publications.
